This year, we celebrate Mothering Sunday on the 27th of March.

Why do we celebrate Mothering Sunday?

Like many traditions, mothering Sunday is based on a religious purpose, linked to Lent and held on the 4th Sunday, three weeks before Easter Sunday. Originally a day to honour and give thanks to the Virgin Mary. in the past, women who worked ‘On Service’ as domestic servants were given the day off to visit their mother and family.

Simnel cake to celebrate easter and mothers day

Today it is a jolly good excuse to spoil our mums, grandmas and female matriarchs of any kind! The tradition of chocolate on mothers day comes from sharing a traditional sweet Simnal cake as the rules on fasting were lifted a little to celebrate these special women in our lives.

As chocolates on mothers day are now seen as traditional Miss Witt is, of course, duty-bound to offer her knowledge and share her passion for all things chocolate, and so I have some very special recommendations for you!

Gifts For Chocoholics…

Perfect for all Mums who love chocolate, I have the spring edition of my signature collection, with a beautiful fragranced afternoon tea chocolate made with Earl Grey, classic Milk Chocolate Truffles and the gorgeous Rose Tea-cup, the exciting Dark Chocolate and Passionfruit Truffle, The Blackcurrent and Star Anise and finally, the Milk Chocolate Praline Truffles.

BRAND NEW FLAVOURS.

Great news - Especially For the Gin lovers!

I have a brand new chocolate range, made in partnership with Explorers Gin of Downton Distillery in Wiltshire. Velvety milk chocolate with a light fragrance of Juniper combined with citrus notes. Divine eaten alone, or of course I recommend they are to be enjoyed with an Explores G&T or Cocktail!

Chocolate Workshops

We are also proudly running three separate workshops over mothers day week for you to enjoy, learn how to make your own chocolates for your mum, or with your mum, or maybe even to gift a workshop to your mum, if she is a chocolate lover!

On the 27th March, we are holding two events, one at 10.30 until 12 pm and another in the afternoon, 2.30 pm until 4 pm. Bring your mum with you for a delightful chocolate-filled workshop and spend some quality, fun time together, making scrumptious chocolate truffles with pink shimmer dust.

On arrival, you can enjoy a warm croissant and award-winning Naked Strawberry jam with your tea or coffee while Miss Witt demonstrates how she makes her award-winning chocolate. Then it is over to you and mum to make the truffles.

You’ll then learn how to temper chocolate to make beautiful shards, adding a flavour of mint or orange oil to finish them off.

The cost for these workshops is £55.00 per person

If you can’t make mothers day, but still wish to treat yourself, or someone special, you may still have time to book yourself onto Miss Witts Mothers Day Treat Workshop on Saturday 19th March, 10.30 until 1 pm this is a slightly more involved workshop-

This is the chance for you to treat your ‘someone special’ by coming to this fabulous workshop, with the theme of afternoon tea! What a great present to give them a box of chocolates made by you on Mothering Sunday.

On arrival, you can enjoy a warm croissant and award-winning Naked Strawberry jam with your tea or coffee while Miss Witt demonstrates how she makes her award-winning chocolate.
